Gladstone George Lue Sang - March 18th, 1934 - October 12th, 2025

Gladstone George Lue Sang was a man of quiet strength and unwavering dedication. Though he was a man of few words, his actions spoke volumes. Known for his boundless energy and love of dancing, he was admired for his dependability, patience, and resilience. He was a steadfast presence in the lives of his family and friends.

Affectionately known as “Gladdy” to his friends, “Uncle Ston” to his many nieces and nephews, and “Papi Lue” to his six beloved grandchildren, Gladstone was the person everyone turned to— Need something repaired? Ask Gladdy. Need a ride somewhere? Ask Gladdy. Need to know where to get a good deal? ….Ask Gladdy.

Born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, he was the sixth of eleven children. He is survived by his siblings Norma, Dolly, Kitty, and Maurice; his devoted wife of 66 years, Marjorie Lue Sang; his three children, Larry (Karen), Ray (Elinor), and Gena (Stéphane), and his greatest pride, his six grandchildren, Hannah, Marissa, Olivia, Tamara, Noah, and Adeline.

As an entrepreneur, Gladstone led his own customs brokerage and played a pivotal role in the importation of Honda motorcycles—models 50, S90, and 350—into Jamaica. In the mid-1970s, he responded to rising violence in his community by founding “Home Guard,” a civilian neighborhood watch group committed to ensuring safety in his neighbourhood of Alysham.

Upon immigrating to Canada, Gladstone dedicated 29 years as a supervisor at Kisko Products, where he became a trusted friend to many, including the Joseph family, owners of the company. He had a deep appreciation for sports such as boxing, soccer, and track and field, and enjoyed outdoor activities including camping, fishing, photography, and attending events like jazz festivals and the Toronto Air Show.

In retirement, Gladstone’s vibrant spirit continued to shine. He took up cycling in his 70s and contributed to the development of the Green Loop bicycle path in Scarborough. He regularly participated in bike-a-thons to raise funds for Sick Kids Hospital. He also reconnected with his Hakka heritage through the Tsung Tsin Association in Toronto, where he was actively involved in a wide range of activities—from exercise classes, karaoke,  and line-dancing to performing with his beloved ukulele group.

Gladstone passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on October 12, 2025;  a youthful 91.

He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tsung Tsin Association and/or The Hospital for Sick Children
