Symposium: Surfacing-Chinese Caribbean Intellectual Thought & Creative Practice

The Chinese Caribbean Studies Network is inviting you to a Symposium at the OCAD University, 115 McCaul Street, 2nd Floor.  This event will take place on Thursday, October 16 from 9 am - 6 pm, and Friday, October 17 from 9:30 am - 1 pm.  


It will feature inter-generational panels addressing Chinese Caribbean history, literature, visual culture and futures.  Presenters are from the Greater Caribbean, China and their diasporas.  This event will take place on Thursday, October 16 from 9 am - 6 pm, and Friday, October 17 from 9:30 am - 1 pm.  


It is interesting to note that four of the presenters will have Jamaica as their central theme - Albert Chong's Afro-Chinese-Jamaican roots; Dr. Jordan Lynton Cox - Jamaica's struggle to escape from 300 years of British Colonialism; Dr. Kerry Young's, the People's Republic of China and development in Jamaica; and Jeanette Kong's Culture and Identity of the Hakka Chinese in Jamaica.
