Ellie Awakens the Spirits of Tam Kung Temple by Lori Wong and Ashton Louie is a children's book celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Temple which was established by the Hakka community in 1876. Elli goes on a mystical adventure to help revive the spirits of the Temple and travels back to the early days of Chinatown. Tam Kung Temple has been designated a National HIstoric Site of Canada.
Ashton Louie is also the illustrator and Lori is a director of the Yen Wo Society (Tsung Tsin) in Victoria, B.C.
The children's book was funded by the Government of Canada to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Tam Kung Temple, and its historical and cultural significance to the Chinese community.
